In this blog, you’ll learn what a vacuum coffee canister is, why it’s great for storing your coffee beans, and how to use it at home.
What is a vacuum coffee container?
A vacuum coffee canister is a practical storage solution for coffee beans, consisting of a glass container with a lid that creates a vacuum, either electronically or manually.
The Barista-Essentials vacuum coffee canister features a smart lid that automatically creates a vacuum at the press of a button. The display on the lid instantly shows all the key information you need to keep your coffee beans in optimal condition.
With data on temperature, humidity, and storage time, you can get the most out of your beans and enjoy delicious espresso for as long as possible.
The canister comes in two sizes, suitable for 250g and 500g of coffee beans. It’s best to buy coffee in small quantities, so you can always enjoy beans that are as freshly roasted as possible.
How to use a vacuum coffee canister?
You use a vacuum coffee canister to store your coffee beans and keep them fresh for as long as possible. This way, you preserve the flavor and complexity of your beans.
Your coffee roaster usually packs freshly roasted beans in a bag with a one-way valve. This allows gases from the freshly roasted beans to escape without letting air in.
However, once you open the bag, the beans are exposed to their biggest enemies: oxygen and humidity.
These factors negatively affect the quality of your beans. Once exposed, the quality quickly declines if the beans aren’t stored properly. Old beans are easy to recognize: they produce little crema and result in a thin, flat espresso with little flavor and sometimes a papery aftertaste.
