Our accessories for SMEG coffee machines

The SMEG brand is known for its instantly recognizable design kitchen appliances. Besides toasters and blenders, SMEG also offers several espresso machines for home use.

These machines differ in a few ways: some have a built-in grinder, and the brew groups (where you lock in the portafilter) vary in shape and size.

This means you need to pay close attention to choosing the right size when ordering size-specific barista tools for your SMEG. You can easily do this using our espresso machine filter.

Not sure which SMEG model you have? Check the manual or the sticker on the back or underside of your machine.

For convenience, we’ve listed all SMEG espresso machines below:

ECF01

The SMEG ECF01 doesn’t just resemble the De’Longhi Dedica in appearance. The brew group of the ECF01, the original SMEG espresso machine, is also comparable to this model.

Your ECF01 has a portafilter with a 51 mm diameter. This means you can use our 51 mm barista tools with this machine.

We also offer a matching bottomless portafilter for the ECF01. With 51 mm (De’Longhi Dedica) you’re good to go and can clearly observe your espresso extraction.

This sizing also applies to the double-spout portafilter.

ECF02

The ECF02 builds on the original machine, featuring new menu functions and a redesigned steam wand.

The brew group has barely changed, which means you can also use a 51 mm (De’Longhi Dedica) portafilter for the ECF02, both bottomless and double spout.

If you want to upgrade or replace accessories like your tamper, choose 51 mm.

ECF03

The SMEG ECF03 is a barista-style machine with a 58 mm brew group

We offer all the barista tools you need for this machine in our assortment.

We recommend choosing barista tools for this machine (such as a coffee distributor or tamper) in 58.5 mm, not 58 mm.

This may sound counterintuitive, but most 58 mm portafilters are actually slightly wider, making 58.5 mm tools fit perfectly. True 58 mm tools are intended for Quick Mill machines, which genuinely use a 58 mm portafilter.

We’re currently developing matching portafilters for this machine. The size you’ll need is 58 mm (SMEG), which will be available soon for both the double-spout and bottomless versions.

EGF03

The EGF03 is unique in the SMEG lineup thanks to its built-in grinder. With its dual thermoblock, you can switch instantly between pulling espresso and steaming milk.

This SMEG espresso machine also features a 58 mm brew group, just like the ECF03. That means you can use all Barista-Essentials tools with a 58.5 mm diameter on the EGF03.

Think of tools like a dosing cup or dosing ring.

Portafilters for your SMEG ECF03 should be chosen in 58 mm (SMEG). Easy as that.

ECM02

With our 58.5 mm tools, you can complete your barista setup for this SMEG espresso machine.

This machine already comes with a solid stainless-steel tamper, so you’re unlikely to replace it, unless you’ve been wanting to try a calibrated tamper or a tamper-leveler combo.

At the moment, we don’t yet offer a replacement portafilter for this machine.

Universal SMEG coffee machine accessories

Some of our barista accessories can be used with any SMEG espresso machine to further improve your espresso. These universal tools complete your home barista setup:

WDT tool

A WDT tool is a small gadget with fine needles used to break up clumps in freshly ground coffee.

Stir through the grounds in your filter basket before distributing and tamping, and you’re good to go.

Knock boxes and knock drawers

After brewing, you knock your used puck into a knock box. This keeps things cleaner than knocking out your portafilter over the trash and makes it easy to separate coffee pucks for organic waste. Or use them for your plants, they love it.

Tamper mats

Tamping directly on your countertop can cause scratches and mess. A tamper mat or tamping station protects your surface and keeps your portafilter stable, helping you tamp straight. A true win-win.

Milk pitchers

All SMEG machines listed above come with a milk pitcher. But did you know a milk pitcher set helps you create even better latte art?

Pour your freshly steamed milk into a second milk pitcher. This helps the foam and liquid milk combine perfectly, making it easier to pour clean tulips or rosettas.

Maintaining your SMEG coffee machine

Some barista tools don’t just improve your coffee—they also extend the lifespan of your machine.

A great example is a puck screen. It distributes water evenly before it flows through the coffee puck and also helps keep your SMEG brew group clean.

This means fewer baked-on coffee residues and less cleaning effort.

With or without a puck screen, we recommend flushing your SMEG with water once a week. Every three months, it’s a good idea to clean it using cleaning powder.

Descaling your SMEG espresso machine

To descale your SMEG espresso machine, you can use our universal descaler. Check your SMEG manual for the exact instructions.

It’s important to do this at least once every three months. This prevents limescale buildup that could clog your steam wand or reduce boiler temperature.
