Why upgrade your portafilter?

A portafilter is the tool you attach to the brew group of your espresso machine. When you buy a new machine, a standard portafilter is always included.

Because of that, you might not immediately think about upgrading it. Fair enough. Still, a good portafilter makes a noticeable difference in the taste of your espresso.

There are two main reasons for this:

1. Plastic inserts. Using a standard portafilter? Take out your filter basket and look inside the portafilter head, near the spout.

Many portafilters contain a plastic insert here. It’s unnecessary and creates a warm, damp place where coffee residue can build up.

2. Poor ergonomics. A handle that feels awkward or uncomfortable makes brewing espresso harder than it needs to be. And we’re allergic to that.

The right portafilter size for your machine

Our portafilters fit the brew groups of most common espresso machines, including Sage, DeLongHi, La Marzocco and ECM.

Below you’ll find which size fits your machine:

51 mm portafilter (DeLonghi): Fits DeLonghi Dedica (except Dedica Maestro Plus), Smeg ECF01 and Smeg ECF02.

54 mm portafilter (Sage): Fits Sage Barista Express, Barista Pro, Barista Touch, Bambino and Solis Grind & Infuse Pro.

58 mm portafilter (E61): Fits La Marzocco, Flair 58, Bezzera, Rocket, Vibiemme Domobar, Rancilio, Ascaso, Quick Mill* and ECM.

*Note: This portafilter fits Quick Mill piston machines, but not Quick Mill models with “three wings”, such as the 820, 3000 or 3004.
