A tamper is a basic tool no home barista can do without. When I (Hugo) worked in cafés, I quickly learned that a good tamper can make or break your espresso.

If a tamper isn’t well balanced or doesn’t fit your filter basket properly, it becomes very easy to tamp unevenly or apply the wrong amount of pressure.

That’s where our search for the ideal tamper began. Because we experienced firsthand how much difference a well-designed tamper makes — for your puck prep and the taste of your espresso.

The result is the classic tamper you’re looking at now: an ergonomic handle (available in three styles) paired with a solid stainless steel tamping base.

The right tamper for your espresso machine

A tamper that fits your portafilter perfectly makes proper tamping much easier. Here’s how to choose the right size:

Choose the 58mm tamper if you’re using a Quick Mill.

Use the 58.5mm tamper for other 58mm espresso machines, such as E61 machines, ECM, VBM (Vibiemme), Rocket, Rancilio, La Marzocco, Sage The Oracle and Gaggia.

We also offer tampers in other sizes. Use the 51mm tamper for DeLonghi machines and the 53.3mm tamper for Sage or Solis.
