When you buy a new Sage espresso machine, it comes with a neat water filter, which looks like a squeeze bottle that you clip into the bottom of your reservoir.

Super handy, because without a water filter, limescale can form in your machine.

This has a short-term effect on the taste of your coffee, and a longer-term effect on the life of your machine. Too much limescale will actually cause your boiler to struggle heating up and your brew head to get clogged.

But did you know you don’t have to order those expensive Sage water filters yourself every time?

You can think of this water filter as a good alternative to the Sage Claroswiss water filter. You install it the same way and it works for just as long.

Furthermore, it has the following features:

Installing this Sage water filter is very easy. Just follow these steps:

  1. After taking it out of the packaging, register the month of installation at the top.
  2. Soak the Sage coffee machine filter in cold water for 5 minutes
  3. Rinse with cold water
  4. Assemble the filter. You do this by placing the filter in the two holders.
  5. Remove your water reservoir from the machine, empty it and click the filter onto the adapter at the bottom of the reservoir.
  6. Press it firmly so that the water filter is fixed
  7. Refill your water tank with water and put it back in your machine.

Note: even if you use a water filter, you will need to descale your Sage regularly. For this, use a good espresso machine descaler.
