Your Solis coffee machine
Which Solis coffee machines are there?
Solis is a well-known Swiss company that sells espresso machines and other household appliances, such as kettles, air fryers, and vacuum sealers.
Popular Solis coffee machines include the Grind & Infuse Pro, Compact, Perfetta, and Barista Perfetta. They differ in several ways, from the brew group to the boiler and (optional) built-in grinder.
Not sure which Solis coffee machine you have? Check the sticker on the back or bottom of your machine. You can usually find the model name or number there.
If you purchased it recently, you can also check your invoice to see which Solis coffee machine you have.
Below, we list the most popular Solis coffee machines and tell you exactly which barista accessories fit them.

Solis Grind & Infuse Perfetta
Size: 54mm
The Solis Grind & Infuse Perfetta is a complete espresso machine with a built-in grinder and a steam wand. This means you only need one machine to turn your freshly roasted coffee beans into a delicious cappuccino.
To make great coffee at home with your Grind & Infuse Perfetta, you also need the right barista tool, and not all of them come included…
Think of a coffee distributor or a WDT tool, both designed to level your coffee puck before tamping. This helps prevent channeling and uneven extraction.
For the Solis Grind & Infuse Perfetta, we offer barista tools in size 54mm (portafilters) and 53.3mm (tamper, distributor, puck screen).
Another handy tool for this Solis espresso machine is our dosing funnel, specially designed for Sage and Solis. You simply click it onto your portafilter and use it to activate your grinder.
This way, you prevent a pile of coffee grounds from ending up next to your portafilter after grinding
Solis Barista Perfetta
Size: 54mm
The main difference between the Grind & Infuse and the Barista Perfetta is that the Barista Perfetta does not have a built-in grinder.
With the Solis Barista Perfetta, you get a standard portafilter and tamper. But did you know these are also worth upgrading?
We especially recommend upgrading the Solis portafilter, as the original has a completely unneccesary plastic insert that tends to trap coffee residue.
For your Solis Barista Perfetta, we offer 54mm portafilters and bottomless portafilters. Both feature a solid stainless steel head and an ergonomic handle made of plastic or rosewood.
Tampers for the Solis Barista Perfetta are best purchased in size 53.3mm, as these tampers fit perfectly into your filter basket.
Solis Grind & Infuse (Pro)
Size: 54mm
The Solis Grind & Infuse Pro is very similar to the Sage Barista Express. This is actually quite logical, as the American parent company of Sage supplies machines to Solis, which they then sell under their own brand name.
The only difference between the two machines is that the milk pitcher included with the Sage has a thermometer, while the Solis version does not.
This means that the Solis Grind & Infuse, like the Sage Barista Express, has a 54mm brew group.
So, with your Solis Grind & Infuse Pro, you can use our 54mm portafilters. For other barista tools such as tampers or distributors, we recommend our 53.3mm size.
Solis Grind & Infuse Compact (1018)
Size: 51mm
The Solis Grind & Infuse Compact 1018 looks very similar to the Grind & Infuse Pro and the Grind & Infuse Perfetta, but don’t let that fool you!
The Compact actually has a smaller 51mm brew group, which requires different barista tools.
For the Solis Grind & Infuse Compact, we unfortunately do not have compatible portafilters. However, you can use our 51 mm tampers, coffee distributors, and puck screens. This is the same size used for DeLonghi espresso machines.
Solis Barista Pro
Size: 54mm
For home baristas who want to improve their espresso and have a machine with a built-in tamper, such as the Solis Barista Pro 114, we almost always recommend a puck screen.
A puck screen is a thin metal disc that you place on your coffee puck after tamping. It then helps distribute the water as evenly as possible through your puck.
Since you have little control over your tamp with the Solis Barista Pro, a puck screen can help improve your espresso extraction and make it more consistent.
With your Solis Barista Pro 114 portafilter, it’s best to use a 53.3 mm puck screen. The same size also applies to our levelers and distributors.
Solis Triple Heat
Size: 58mm
The Triple Heat is a unique Solis coffee machine: it’s the only one with a 58mm brew group.
In addition to the larger brew group, the Solis Triple Heat also has a dual boiler. This makes it much easier to prepare multiple coffees in a row.
For the Solis Triple Heat, we offer barista tools in the following sizes:
Tool | Size |
Portafilter | No suitable size |
Bottomless portafilter | 58mm (Sage) |
Tamper | 58,5mm |
Distributor | 58,5mm |
Puck screen | 58,5mm |
Unfortunately, you can no longer buy the Triple Heat directly from Solis; it’s only available second-hand or refurbished. This also applies to the Grind & Infuse Pro, Barista Pro, and the Grind & Infuse Compact.
Sage or Solis?
If you’re looking for your new espresso machine, you may have noticed that the machines from Sage, Solis, Breville, and Gastroback look quite similar.
So, what’s the deal?
Sage, Solis, Breville, and Gastroback all have the same owner: the Australian Breville Group Ltd. This explains why the machines from these brands are sometimes identical.
Still, in western Europe , you’re more likely to find a Sage in your specialty store than a Breville. That’s because Breville is sold more in North America, while Sage and Solis are more common in Europe and the United Kingdom.

Cleaning your Solis coffee machine
It’s very important to clean your espresso machine regularly. This prevents old coffee residues from interfering with the taste of your fresh espresso.
Properly cleaning your Solis means:
Backflushing with water every week
Backflushing with espresso machine cleaner every 3 months
Descaling with espresso machine descaler every 3 months
Cleaning your steam wand and grinder every 3 months
Finally, it’s important to always have a water filter in your Solis’ reservoir. This helps prevent limescale buildup and ensures you can enjoy your machine for much longer.
