And once you finally know how to tamp for a great brew, you want to be able to repeat that endlessly.
But that’s easier said than done! Tamping well once is quite different from tamping well every time. Applying the same pressure and tamping level every time is a challenge.
I thought to myself (Jasper), that this should be easier. That’s why we set out at Barista-Essentials to find a tamper that you can adjust to determine the pressure and that allows you to tamp level every time.

How to Use It?
Set the depth of your palm tamper by turning the rings based on your grind size and dose. Start as deep as possible and work back until you can apply pressure, ensuring that the tamper ultimately rests on the edge of your portafilter.
This way, you’ll always tamp with the same pressure and perfectly level!

Is your machine not listed here? Check our comprehensive size chart or measure the inside of your filter basket. The diameter in mm is the correct size for your distributor.
In addition to a tamper, a distributor is also important. If your ground coffee isn’t level in the basket, you can end up with sour coffee. Check out our range of coffee distributors.
