A DeLonghi tamper with a plan
When I (Jasper) first started as a home barista, every espresso shot tasted different. Sometimes just right, sometimes bitter, but usually a little too sour.
Turns out I was dealing with a classic case of channeling, caused by uneven tamping. This causes water to take the path of least resistance, and extracting your puck unevenly.
Partially my fault, but also thanks to the standard plastic DeLonghi Dedica tamper. A plastic little tool no serious home barista wants to be seen with.
A proper tamper with some weight and a comfortable grip can make all the difference in your daily battle against channeling.
And that’s exactly the kind of tamper you just found.

The tamper for your machine
To tamp well, you need the right size.
This is our 51mm coffee tamper, perfect for machines like the DeLonghi Dedica, La Specialista, Icona Vintage, and Solis Grind & Infuse Compact.
We also sell 54mm tampers (actually 53.3mm) that are a perfect fit for your Sage Barista Express, Solis Grind & Infuse Pro, or Breville Barista Express.
For Quick Mill and E61 machines, we recommend our 58mm tampers and 58.5mm tampers. Especially for E61 machines, the 58.5mm version fits even better in your portafilter.
